I love my M14x even though I only have it for a few days. I don't want to be picky but the second I lifted the lit and saw that it has the rubber on the palm rest I thought this will scratch and become ugly very easily. I take very good care of all my gear but I have a logitech laser mouse with same rubber or similar and it got scratched little bit and then peeled off and it just looks horrible.
Did the rubber scratch or peel off for any of you guys who own it for a longer time?

My latitude has rubber palm rests too...I was initially hesitant...but having a 3 year warranty and knowing I'll be on to another laptop before then makes everything just fine...

I only have a 1 year standard warranty + accidental damage theft and etc. So at least I hope that if it turns to it will be before 1 year. How is dell with warranty response?

yeah.. i've concern about it too.. so in office i took off watch when i work so i don't scratch it.. at home i uses a kvm switch cause no where else on the desk so i'll be using another set of keyboard and display sharing with my desktop..

my worry is more of the heat that would wear out the rubber component.. not our contact.. hmmm..

however i do believe this type of surface is quite durable.. not from sharp scratch ofcourse.. i havea corsair voyager mini thumbdrive taht have the same kind of material.. being a thumbdrive it's been into any kind of contact and condition.. keychain.. pencil case.. throwing on the desk... it still looks as it was.. no scratch.. no lost of rubber feel.. no shiny (plastic wear) effect..

i scratched my m14x on the rubber bits... all i did was actually bumped my macbookpro13 which was sitting next to the m14x.. and the corner of the mbp scraped against the front of the m14x.. causing a bit of rubber to peel off... however its just a tiny dot and not very noticeable.. but it is noticeable when u look veryvery close.. i am kinda sad as i only just got this laptop today!!!! i hate rubber!!
