Hey, I've been tweaking around with the settings in MSI afterburner, and the results at least for me are a great minor improvement. Though I usually get around the same fps, the overall game play is a lot smoother.

I have my core clock set to 700mhz and the shader clock is set according to how much i set the core clock to. I didn't tweak the memory, i don't know if it makes a difference or not. I know I can probably set the clocks a bit higher, but I like to be on the safe side with the heat.

Temperatures were around 64-67 degrees for my gpu while playing crysis 2 (advanced settings on 1600x900reso) and BFBC2 (high settings, 4x aa 4x filtering).

Have you guys overclocked your gt555m? If you have, what were your settings and results? I heard some people overclocked the gt555m to be almost as fast as a gtx 460m without too high temperatures, around 75c. How is overclocking going to affect the overall life of the card as well? Thanks

    Have a happy independence day...

I have my core at 705 and memory at 950 and I honestly haven't seen it go higher than like 75-77 playing MW2 and crysis 2

I don't believe it'll have any damaging effects on the hardware unless the temperatures start rising to like 90 and over....

A laptop cooler would be nice to keep the temperatures down :)

What are your ambient temperatures when you overclock? Air conditioned room? Do you use a cooling pad?

I'm in an air conditioned room, around 77 degrees. I don't use a cooler. If temps stay under 67 degrees I might overclock to at least 750, maybe.

HWinfo to manually Control fans and monitor temps is what I use.

I dont even use a cooler, but my system stays at around 75 degrees running at 750/1080 getting about 60fps on BFBC2 all maxed, 1600x900, 2X aa and 16x AF

And no, it was about 65 degrees and a ltitle humid in my living room ;)

I'm sitting at 765 for core and whatever for shader (I think 1150ish? Im on my phone so I can't look atm). Any higher and it crashes 3d Mark or bc2. My temps max out around 76c in an air conditioned room in the low 70's. It's 100% stable at that OC. I know this card isn't a 460m or anything but Im very impressed with my m14x for what it is. Im also selling my m11x and my G73 because it's almost as good as my G73 (if you compare cpus the m14x wins, these new second gen i7's are insane) and it's actually portable

Ha, that's what I'm doing. Selling my 17" and also selling my M11x R1 and going with a single unit. Hopefully Dell will have some good discounts soon, like $200-$300 off. Looking for one with 1600x900 screen for ~ $1000.

Same here lol. I just sold my M17x r3 and i'm selling my M11x R3 right now. Plus I'm selling my desktop and get the M14x listed in my sig. Seems to be a great laptop that's right in the middle of what I need and want.

What do you guys use to chek if overclock is stable? Cause I wanna go higher but I don't know how to check if stable under extreme load. And how do you exponentially increase the frequency properly and safely? I kinda just copied the OC of a friend but since I just ordered my M14, I wanna OC on my own and possibly go higher..Thanks

Furmark. To test frequency up it in small amounts and keep testing until it artifacts. A good starting point is 700Mhz to save time, although you will likely get much higher (750+).
