Hello !! Im a bit new to this, it's my first perfomance laptop :)

So I have overclocked my gt 555m to 675/950/1350 and my max temp was just 70C.

Does it meen I can really cranck it more ? example 720/980/1445 ?

What is a good temp to keep ?

I was playing space marine for about 2 hours. My CPU on the other hand jumped to 80C max, but usually stayed at 72-75.

Thank you and sorry for the english :)

your cpu is what you need to have a conceren for. probably what you need to overclock to is 750/1500/1000. the shutoff point is 100. I like to keep it in 80s if possible but probably not gonna happen with most modern games. i have an alarm that sounds through real temp if the cpu tem reaches 96. i would recommend that and save, quit, and then turn the turbo boost off in the bios.

As long as your temp is between 60C ~ 85C, you are good, my OC is 600/1200/900 (Core/Shader/Mem) at idle, 800/1600/1100 (Core/Shader/Mem) at full load. And the average temp is 65C ~ 75C. Oh and I use a cooler so if you dont have any cooler, I do not recommend to OC it too high.

i think you hit f2 when the alienware logo when you first boot up to open the bios settings. you shold find an option on there somewhere. i wouldnt change anything but the turbo boost option.

i have the 1gb version in my msi gx680, i used msi afterburner to overclock it to:

    800 mhz core
    1600 mhz shader
    1400 memory

and it idles at 42 degrees!!

can anyone tell me what the equivalent gpu is for this clock? is it as powerful as a gtx card?

We'll never reach the power of a GTX560.

The GTX580M is only close to on par with a GTX 560 Ti, so no the 555M will not reach GTX 560 performance, but we could easily hit GTX 560M performance with volt mods and overclocking. People say the 560M is close to the GTS 450
