Maybe someone's seen this or maybe not.

When I first got my pc i used to experience the odd screen issue where the whole screen would turn a colour (random colour really) sometimes re or blue or pink or anything. I seemed to narrow down the problem to the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software so I uninstalled that and haven't seen the problem at all (I have the 750gbs 7200rpm drive). But today I was using the lappy on battery power (dont do so too often) and I saw the issue again (which I haven't seen since I uninstalled the Intel RST software 2 months ago).

I have seen this issue with the intel RST installed on both the dell authorised graphics drivers and the nvidia and intel drivers. Currently running Nvidia 280.26 WHQL release and Intel HD Graphics 15.10.2462 drivers.

Has anyone any thoughts on this or have you seen this? I did see the thread on the issues with Intel RST on here but they didn't describe what I was experiencing. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I should add if i sleep and wake the laptop or if I plug in the power cable when the screen goes the solid colour it then comes back on as normal. But they're the only two ways to get the screen back.

It feels like some sort of power saving issue to me. In that something is entering power saving mode and not coming back out properly. I dunno maybe I'm totally wrong.

(I know I'm probably talking to myself but it may help others)

It's definitely a power saving issue. If I have the device on balanced or power saver on battery then it'll go to a colour screen on me at some point then it'll only go back to normal if I sleep/wake the laptop or plugin the power cable.
If I keep it on high performance on battery power it never gets the colour screen.

Will play around with some of the advanced power settings and see if I can fix/locate the issue.

I never let mine sleep or power save. Plugged in most of the time, and when on Batt: I want the full power then too. You could try a clean install if you have not already. ;)

Thanks alienwolf. Have done that already. Yep it might be a case of keeping it on high performance when on battery. Will play around with the power settings to see if I can avoid the issue but keep some of the power saving (haven't found time yet). It's not a big problem for me, just a little niggle. Appreciate your reply though ;)
