Welcome to the Alienware M14x Benchmark thread here on NBR. Here you can discuss benchmark results, tips, settings and of course post your results for the community to see...

There are several apps which can be used to benchmark your system. Following is a short list of some which are typically used. There are others and the core benchmarking members will have plenty of suggestions - so ask away.

A word of caution concerning benchmarking... While benchmarking / number chasing can be quite a bit of fun, please be aware that benchmarking/overclocking your system is pushing your system to its limits. It can and will stress your components. Do so at your own risk - nobody is responsible for this but you.

Finally, as with all threads here on NBR, please remember the forum rules when posting. Any images over 500x500 must be resized. Images embedded within posts which are over 500x500 will be removed. Repeat offenders will receive infractions. There is no reason you cannot take a moment to resize or use thumbnail previews. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation with this.

Have fun folks and lets see how far you can push the M14x! :D

@ m14x. I'm assuming you can run crysis 1 on extreme or crysis warhead on enthusiast using 1366X768 and a GPU OC, averaging around 30 FPS right?

What's your CPU? What were the clocks?
You should include GPU-Z to verify the clocks and e.g. CPU-Z in the screenshot, then all information is available.

Nice work, now I want to see 8k vantage :D

I was wondering if anybody that has the m14x could run some benchmarks for games (Crysis 2, HL, Bad Company, Starcraft) so I can get a idea if I would be happy with this laptop on a external monitor (where I would be doing most of my gaming)

The overclocks are very impressive - well done guys.

Any chance though of someone posting 3dMark06 etc without an overclock?

    Got my m14x today.

    • i7-2720QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
    • 4GB RAM (STOCK)
    • NVIDIA Geforce 555M 3GB (Driver version : 270.61)
    • 500GB 7200RPM HDD (STOCK)

Everything is stock (except the nvidia driver), nothing is overclocked. I powered it on, went through the out-of-box stuff, and installed the latest nVidia driver, and installed 3DMark Vantage and ran the test.

    Score : P6305 3DMarks

Not too shabby. I'll do some overclocking later tonight and post the results too.

As for 1.5GB vs. 3GB. I do see a slight improvement score with the 3GB but probably not worth the $100 right off the bat. But who knows, later on, larger textures, bigger games. The benchmarks will tell eh?

Why don't we have a benchmarking leaderboard in this thread like in the M17x/M15x benchmarking threads? It would be nice so we can just look at the first page and see what the top scores are and from who.

Based on a trial run from someone with the MXM 6770M GDDR5, the 6770M is like 10% faster on stock than the 555M on the m14x of both types of RAM capacity.

With 3GB card and everything stock. Here is my 3DMark 11 score. I am upgrading ram as well as putting in a SSD tomorrow with a fresh install so I will run it again and see if anythings different.

Will someone with the 1.5GB card run 3DMark 11 with everything stock and post so we can compare. Thanks

Very impressive results everyone. I'm currently in the process of ordering an M14x and was expecting 3DMark 06 scores somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 to 11,000, so this is great news. Looks like the choice of DDR3 instead of GDDR5 wasn't that critical. Seemed insane at first.

just overclock the memory to 1080 and the bandwidth difference becomes negligible from a speed standpoint. It actually is higher than the stock ddr5 from nvidias site. They say the memory bandwith is 50.2 mine is 51.8.
