My m14x came shipped with a primary oem partition and a logical recovery partition. What exactly is contained in these partitions? I believe that the oem contains dell diagnostics and such.
Will they be safe to delete?

Id at least make a clone of drive or a recovery backup before deleting anything ... never know when it may come in handy

Everybody's M14x came with those recovery partition where you can use the pre-installed software called AlienRespawn to create one, in fact all of the OEM computer have those partition, what it do is when your computer having problem, then you can use the F12 Recovery option during boot to rescue the computer, you can safely delete If you have create a Recovery Disc, the Dell Diagnostic cannot be delete because it is tied to the BIOS.

You can learn how to create the Recovery Disc here: HOW TO: Preserve AlienRespawn - stock drive to aftermarket drive / AlienRespawn Q&A
