Hi guys and girls, I'm wondering if anyone can help with an issue I'm having.

I bought my Alienware M14x R2 about a month ago and it hasn't been too bad. I've had a few issues which I've managed to resolve, but I'm not the most technically minded.

Over the last few days my sound has randomly been cutting off and not coming back unless I restart my PC. I've disabled and enabled the sound card and uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. If I plug headphones into the jack it works fine. This is also affecting my microphone, as when I've been on skype occasionally the sound would just become muffled instead of cutting out completely; when this happens people in the call begin to scream about a loud sound that my mic is transmitting.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

Type "msinfo32" and check what BIOS version you are running and let me know.

    Thanks.

I've done that and it's currently working - but it was only an intermittent fault anyway. Is there anything else I should do now or should I just wait to see if it happens again over the next few days?

This issue has just re-occurred. I haven't changed anything whatsoever since updating the BIOS and it hasn't happened since either (until tonight)

Any ideas to solve this? Seems like I'm not the only one having the issue. It also affects the microphone as people on skype say that it's making really loud/strange noises.

i havent had problems with my mic, as for the audio issue, i have no idea how to fix it, and it seemed updating to BIOS A04 made it more common than before. its just really annoying that i have to restart my computer in order to get sound through the jack or laptop speakers.
