So why do the Alienware 17 and 18 have HDMI input but the 14 does not? Is this something that can be turned on by a driver? I want to use my PS3 on the laptop LCD!

That would be amazing, I was wondering the same thing a few days ago.

definitely not something that could be added with firmware. its more about the internal physical connection. I heard in an early rumoreview that the HDMI did in and out and got excited, but it seems that was too good to be true. they only option now would be a usb input video capture device.
the supposed HDMI in was really one of the few things that was making me contemplate replacing my r2 but I cant justify it any longer.

I guess that the reason why it does not have that is because of the screen size. Most users actually try to play with the m14x on a different screen instead of inputting the signal from another device. On the other hand, the screen size of the 17" and 18" ones may be better to game with your Xbox or Ps3.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I went ahead and ordered a 17, but I'll trade for a 14 if they ever get HDMI in.
