Hi, I was wondering if the newest drivers are worth installing and if they improve on any of the games. Also wondering how I can install this since I'm sure it's going to say that it can't recognize any nvidia hardware.

I've noticed a slight improvement in some benchmarks and games. I generally go with newer=better for graphics drivers, but there are exceptions to everything..

If you download them direct from Nvidia it will say it's not compatible. But, you can install the latest drivers by going to laptopvideo2go.com. These would be the latest:

    v275.50 Windows 7/Vista 64bit | OEM Mobile - LaptopVideo2Go Forums

    Installing them is easy:
    1. Download both the driver and the INF file from the download page.
    2. Using a program such as WinRAR or 7-Zip, extract the drivers to a folder
    3. In that folder will be a folder called "Display.Driver" Put the modified INF file downloaded earlier into this directory. Click Yes (or 'Move and Replace') when it asks if you want to overwrite the existing file.
    4. Run the driver setup.
    5. Enjoy!

Interesting. Do you know if it's stable with the 275.27 Beta's or the 275.33?

I've just followed this procedure to update my stock drivers with the 275.33, but I've uninstalled the stock drivers first. Windows automatically installed a general VGA driver, and I've installed the 275.33 over. Do you think this can cause any trouble?

Also during the installation process I selected to not install the Nvidia update, since basically you can't update anything from Nvidia but just through the Dell website, so I though auto-updates and notification were kinda useless.

Should I have installed it anyway?

Should be fine, the Nvidia update isn't necessary, maybe one day when the stock drivers work with this laptop :)

The driver install is fine too. Enjoy the new drivers :)

I've followed instructions and installed the driver
but when I go to device manager, the GT555M driver is not the one I just installed?
where do I go to check which driver I currently have?

I've installed the above v275.50 driver
when I go to device manager, the driver for GT555M does not say 270.50, but the date of the driver is something like 6/15/2011
how can I tell it has the 275.50 driver? and if the modded inf is working and the driver is working fine?

also wanna know which driver is the best as of today? not necessary the newest but the one which performs the best so far?
where to download and how? would be great if there's also a modded inf and instruction on how to install it.

Thank you so much for your help. I am new and I really need help to make my new m14x perform the best.

First, lets download all the necessary components.

Once you've downloaded everything and installed 7-Zip, find the driver you just downloaded, 27550_win7x64.exe. Right click on that file, choose "7-Zip", then click on "Extract to "27550_win7x64/" This will create a new folder called "27550_win7x64" within your current directory. It contains all the files within the driver.

Open this new folder, which should then contain a folder titled "275.50_win7x64" Open this folder. You should have a list of 10 folders and 4 files on screen, the first one should be "Display.Driver" The last file should be Setup.

In a new window, browse to the "nwfi.inf" file we downloaded earlier. Drag the nwfi.inf file into the "Display.Driver" folder. Windows will tell you a file in that directory already exists. Click "Move and Replace."

Now run Setup. You should be able to install your new drivers. Please let me know if you need further assistance :)
