Hey guys, I'm new to this overclocking stuff. What does it exactly do? Is it safe? Can someone please give me a step by step guide on how to overclock my gt555m so I can get the most out of it? Thanks a lot in advance.

I really wouldn't recommend overclocking the CPU, it really doesn't do anything besides make the laptop a little more hot which we defiantly don't need.

For over clocking the GPU you'll want to download an app called " MSI Afterburner" and another called " HW Monitor". Basically start HW monitor and watch the temps of your GPU/CPU as you raise the values on your GPU. A good starting place is 700 for the core (Shader is linked don't worry about that) and set the memory at 1000. Now keep raising that 700 and running say 3dmark06 until it refuses to run the bench fully or your temps get out of control (CPU under 100c and GPU under 80c preferably although 100c in the CPU is on the extreme side). It takes a little while to fine tune it once you find that sweet spot where 3dmark06 wont crash and it stable, I'd say if you end up with a core of 775 in 3dmark06 I'd knock it back to 765 for stability sake.

Tried and tested by me as well. This works- not to say the other way does not. Just know running your overclock numbers for a short period of time may give you a false sense all is well. Only by running a GPU intensive game or Furmark for at least 30 minutes plus will you know, in fact, you will not have issues.

right click on desktop, go to Nvidia Control Panel. Choose menu Performance, agree something, then Device submenu and choose clocks you want. Apply. In the future you can create rules when profiles of clocks will load themself (like when you turn on game or smth).

    Going to bed

There are 3 slides, right? You should remember your stocks clocks and multiple every clock on 1.1. Then move sliders to the resulted clocks put on sliders.

    Click OK.

Turn on Furmark, choose extreme burning mode, stability test and resolution (NOT FULL SCREEN).Wait for 25-30 minutes. You can turn on some effects for more extreme test while furmarking.

Ok so this is what I did so far by my understanding. I went to the Nvidia Control Panel and the default values it had for my GPU were Graphics Clock 590 MHZ Memory Clock 900 MHZ
and Processor Clock 1180 MHZ but it was greyed out so I couldnt adjust that slider. According to you I multiplied the memory clock and graphics card by 1.1 and put the new value. Now
I have 649 MHZ for graphics and 990 MHZ for the memory. I opened up Furburner and changed resolution to my 720p one and options had burn in and dynamic background checked. I also
checked xtreme burn in like you said. Then I clicked the burn in test and waited 30 mins and got an error message that my laptop does not meet the minimum requirements to run this program.
    HELP!

    1. change resolution on furmark. less than 720p.
If you can't change processor's clocks then the only thing I suggest to increase is memory.

If it stops responsong then you need make smaller overclocking. Maype you post a screenshot of clocks?
