Hey everyone! I'm new to the site but I've been consulting it for the last few weeks ordering my laptop that arrived today.

When it got here I set up my windows account and everything was just fine till I put a CD in my BRAND NEW m14x, and it couldn't read it. On top of that it has locked up my PC. I was forced to try and restart my PC only to have it freeze during boot at the CD drive check. I can hear the CD drive clicking and spinning but it doesn't sound healthy.

There is no physical eject button, and the function keys only work inside windows so I'm at a loss. Is there anyway to disable the CD drive boot check, OR eject the CD?

See whenever I hit f2 for setup (which I assume is the BIOS) it just sits there while its still trying to check the CD drive. The alienware logo is on the screen. The "loading" bar is full, but nothing happens, there's just the whirr/click of the drive.

Take out the drive and see if it works, only a few screws and a small connector. If it works without the drive, talk to dell for a new one.

I dropped it off at my local university's Laptop repair shop. They're Dell certified. Only problem is they don't work over the weekend :-/
