No it's not, I think it's better to start with the base model and only add what you need like for example that one you mentioned has the 3gb video card which is 100$ more

The 3GB card is never worth it unless you're buying used/refurb.

I'd hate to think I fell into a trap but I had purchased a similar deal two weeks ago with all the perks. I know the 3.0GB on the video is useless, and I know that upgrading individual parts is cost effective. I thought it would be easier just to have everything I needed installed now. Of course I ordered on 6/27 with ddate of 7/20. It also came with a Backpack. I don't mind paying but when I read the several different threads on how each user had difficulties, defects and or disabled functions on thier 14x it makes me wonder now if at any price this laptop is a trap in itself?

Some of the parts are as follows:

    Intel Core i7 2820QM 2.4GHz (3.4GHz Turbo Mode, 8M cache)
    8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
    14.0 High Def+ (900p/1600x900) with WLED backlight
3.0GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M using NVIDIA Optimus technology
    500GB 7200RPM SATA 3GB/s
Intel Advanced-N WiFi Link 6250 a/g/n 2x2 MIMO Technology with WiMax
    Accidental Damage Service, 1 Year
    Internal 60GHz WirelessHD Transmitter
    Internal Bluetooth 3.0
Soundblaster X-Fi Hi Def Audio - Software Enabled
    Total out the door: $2072.78

You also have to remember of every person who has problems there's probably 100+ people who never have a single problem and you'll never see them post anything.

gabe406 it actually seems like u got a good deal for what u got. but the i7 2720 and 1.5 555m would have been enough.
