I am probably a , but my Alienwar m14x was messed up. the symptoms were:

clicking on a link on the internet would redirect me to "Amazingsearchsystem.com" or another obscure search engine.

I kept getting "CLR error 80004005" messages, and several applications, including Alienware Command Center would not work.

So I decided to restore it to get rid of the problems. I inserted the windows 7 disc that came with it, and reset the computer, but now there are a few problems I don't know how to fix.
None of the original alieware applications like command center are installed, I cannot connect to the internet, and the resolution only goes up to 1240 by 780, or something like that, not up to it's original 1600 by 900.

additionally, It doesn't detect any connected monitors I plug into it, and it lists the display as a "Generic monitor". Please help, I know barely anything about this kind of stuff, so the simplest possible answer would be the most helpful.

Did you make a backup of windows image using alienrespawn?
    1) if yes, Simply pop in the alien respawn disk and follow instructions to restore your windows to factory state
    2) if NO, you formatted your entire HDD without making a backup, you will need to install all the softwares and drivers separately.
Here is the link to topic related to driver isntallation made by the users of this forum.

then you can add all the alienware feel using this link ;)

One more thing. DO NOT INSTALL THE COMMAND CENTRE USING DVD THAT CAME WITH THE SYSTEM.
Download the updated version of COMMAN CENTRE from DELL download website and install that one. Using older version will corrupt your firmare and such.

    Hope this helps!
