My Alienware M14x R1 has slowed way down. Any suggestions to help?

I got the original m14x model way back in december 2011 and it's recently just been kinda odd. It used to run League of Legends perfectly, all the time, at max settings 60 FPS (I capped it at that, so I don't know how high it *could've* been).

Now I can't even turn it to the lowest settings that look like a preschool drawing at get 60 FPS. I'm going to do some minor things like fan dusting and such and perhaps wipe my HDD and start fresh just to see if that helps anything. Likely won't, but worth a shot. Regardless, any words of advice that might help my aging machine?

I would suggest cleaning out the fan as it is probably blocked up with dust if you've never cleaned it and as such will be throttling due to heat. Once that is done a fresh install might be another idea if it is still not performing as well as you expect!

This might sound a bit extensive, but I would do a clean install of your OS. I recently did this and it has helped the performance of my machine quite a bit.

I'd also check Event Viewer for disc errors just in case.
