All maxed on NATIVE 42-63 fps + V-sync on. And tripple buffering from Nvidia Control panel.

All max out with V-Sync OFF. 55 ~ 70. MW3 used a modified 4-5 years old engine, I'm 1 million percent sure that M14x can run it without problem. Beside I really somewhat disappointed to see it took them 2 years to develop the game where it is nothing different from MW2 at all!

Even they add few guns, perks and a mode, it should not took that long, MW3 is like an expansion to MW2 that happen to have a name of MW3. And they sell it like a full game price.

the reason why it took 2 years is because Activion puts out ONE new COD installment every year right before the holiday season. Since Black ops came out last year, MW3 comes out this year

Even that, it should be enough for a better graphic and more stuff in it. 60 buck for few new perks, guns, a new mode and few hours campaign is not worth the money.

How do you get the triple buffering from the Nvidia control panel when it's a Steam game?

    Thanks

I just set it in Nvidia Panel. Should it not work with steam? Of course, before that I added (whitelisted) IW5SP.exe to Nvidia control panel.

I have everything on high except for textures, that I have on extra, and I get 60-75 fps. Try that.

TBH dude, I have everything on Native and screen resolution at 1366x768 and it runs perfectly, no lag etc...

My specs are slightly different, i7, 2.0, turbo turned off, 8gb RAM, 3gb Nvidia, for all people say the extra large graphics isn't worth the money, I have noticed that we seem to have less issues when running more graphics on games...

I'm running it at 1600x900 with specs I mentioned. Our CPU is the same, turbo off. 8GB ram doesn't matter because the game isn't ram intensive and as said before the 3gb doesn't matter that much (3-5%).

BF3 is out, I would advise playing that over MW3, just because BF3 is a lot better than it on PC, I think most people would agree. MW3 is more of a console game, but I'm not saying don't play it by any means, I couldn't care less if you do or don't, just thought I would advise you that you will probably like BF3 more.

I run MW3 at default settings and 720p. It lags like hell. Anyone know what I should do to improve fps?

    My specs are:
    i7 2630QM, 6GB RAM, 3GB VRAM, 900p

i have issues of my own, but i guess you can try all/either of the following:

    a) Whitelist the game ("iw5sp.exe") in the Nvidia control panel. By default, the game recognises only intel graphics. You will find the exe in SteamApps folder

    b) if you do not use multiple screens, change nvidia 3d settings to "single display mode"

    c) Change power management mode to "prefer maximum performance"

    Trial and error, i guess.

In the NVIDIA Control Panel, under the 3D Setting > Manage 3D Setting, you will see 2 tab - Global Setting and Program Setting. Select the Global Setting under " Prefer graphic processor" Select " High Performance NVIDIA Processor" and in the Program Setting, click on " Add" and navigate to wherever directory you install MW3, click on the " iw5sp.exe" & "iw5mp.exe" (you have to do it twice for the iw5mp.exe, that goes for other game too) then click on " Open" and after you done the adding, under the 2. Select prefer graphic processor for this program select " High Performance NVIDIA Processor" then click " Apply" and it's done! Now you can enjoy a high fps in MW3. Hope this help.

Some people prefer to use the Global Setting only, but for me to be safe and make sure that the program is using the GT555M, I suggest you also use the Program Setting. And you can also enable the GPU Activity to see if the game is using the GT555M or not, you can do it at Desktop > Display GPU Activity icon in Notification Area (You can find it between Edit and 3D Settings on the top of the program), so then when in game, alt tabbing out of the game in the " Notification Area/Hidden Icon" to see if it really using the NVIDIA GPU or not.

It probably runs exactly the same as Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2. It is the same game reskinned/remodeled. Counterstrike/Half-life mods used to do this for free, now people are paying $60 every year for this.

Not probably, but it is the same, its system requirement shown on the Wikipedia is exactly the same, it's more like a MW2.5 or a standalone expansion pack (or DLC) with the name happen to be MW3 than a full game to me, it should cost you only $15 for a DLC-like game. As for like BF3's Back to Karkand expansion, it is really similar to MW3 (Except for no Campaign) I dont want to start a flamewar here and since it would be off topic too so I wont go into detail though, but I'm sure you guy know what I trying to say.

See the system requirement and compare it Here:
    CoD: Black Ops System Requirement
    CoD: MW3 System Requirement

What I find truly amusing is that if you look at Counter-Strike and the Half-life mods in general, you can see how easy it is to create new models for guns and levels and everything, and make games that use the exact same engine but look and play completely different (although some of this is not exactly EASY but the point is modders do this for free). Day of Defeat started out as a half-life mod that was available for free until it was purchased by Valve.

So when I see 8 Call of Duty games that look exactly the same it really says a lot about the state of the gaming industry.

Running on my i5 m14x MW is VERY smooth. My brother thinks it looks old, and it is an old engine, but it still looks very nice and is very playable.

Very refreshing being able to install something and play it perfectly with no configuring needed.

Ya MW3 is how mw2 should have been. It may look old and the same as mw2, but it still has different gameplay

I think MW3 is graphically much better than MW2. SP gameplay also.
