Hey guys, I think......that my memory is fried.
My M14x R2 is just a month old. I just got BF3 yesterday, and today I started getting BSOD when I try to start it. I accidentally deleted the crash dumps, but "WhoCrashed" said that they were memory related (ntoskrnl.exe and another n-somthing). Also, I have run tests on AlienAutopsy. My memory fails every test except the "moving inversion test" and the "windows memory test".

So...am I screwed? Is this yet another failure for my alienware adventure? (keep in mind my first M14x r2 was DOA and I've just finally finished all the exchange crap with dell).

Also, if this is really fried, why is my computer still working (at least for browsing)? I'm not great with technical things..

Edit: I just tested with windows memory diagnostic (after restart) and it all passed. Yet there is still the obvious problem, and the other tests from AlienAutopsy that it can't pass.

    12 GB.
I ran the alienware diagnostic tool last night (f12 at reboot), and although it took a few hours to go through all of the memory stuff, it claimed that it "fixed" the problem with my memory. Now I ran Alienware Autopsy today and the memory passed everything. So am I good now? How does this happen? How did the diagnostic tool "fix" it? And could it happen again/just be covered up for a moment?

run the new memtest 86 it will take around 3 hours for 3 passes but will test the ram well if you have time leave it running overnight it will probly complete around 12 diff passes if it returns no errors awsome if you have any errors rma the ram is my general rule of thumb

Well I'll have to wait on that because I don't have any blank CDs (what is this the stone age?)

How about making a Hiren's USB boot drive? Got a spare USB stick lying around?

That seems a bit too complicated...plus I don't have any free usb sticks. All filled.
I'll just wait until I see a blank cd. In the meantime, any ideas on how the memory could have been "fixed" or broken in the first place?

Not too hard at all - by memory (excuse the pun) they have some self extracting thing that loads itself onto ur usb without u having to do much at all. Also u could just move all the stuff off the usb then put it back on when ur done :)

Well memtest86 didn't find any errors. So I guess I'm good?
