Has anybody else noticed marks on the screen from the keyboard, palm rest, etc? I've had my 14x for about a month and it's already very noticeable during normal use....

Yep. Rather annoying. Some have gotten shaggy macs made to put between the screen and keyboard when closed. Others have used razer's mobile mouse pad.

Yep, I have the same problem on both the m14x laptops i ordered. I got one returned, thinking the other wouldn't do the same thing but voila!

anyway, it seems that the front is glass / plastic, and so there shouldn't be any lasting damage as such, and I am able to wipe the screen clean every time.

I guess a screen protector seems like the only option.

Even the battery lights don't light up. I hope everything else works

I just put a cleaning cloth on top of the touch pad before closing a lid. That way it's always around too.

Yeah, I made a thread on this a few months ago. I always get it from the touchpad. I haven't had any marks from keys though.

I had few marks on my screen too coz of the touch pad and keys, as i was not using anything to cover the keys and touch pad before closing the lid, got the laptop with accidental warranty so got it replaced,
bt ya my marks developed into permanent smudges, so be careful
jst use a cloth of something to cover before closing the lid. You want want to disassemble ur laptop completely to replace the screen
    . bettr be careful

As mentioned in the other screen thread, a microfiber cloth between the keys/screen when closing the lid is almost a requirement for gaming laptops that travel.

ShagyMac is what I recommend (15.6"+).

This will guarantee no scratches on your screen when traveling.
