Hi guys, I think what most of us guys are going to be doing is buying the m14x with the base RAM and HDD, and upgrading it later since the options on the dell site are ridiculously overpriced. I noticed the 8gb kit on newegg.com is only $75, for example.

Likewise, how about adding an SSD in addition to the HDD and installing Windows and some core apps on it for faster booting and performance?

This is TitanGod's guide on adding an SSD in place of the optical drive, and I think its brilliant :) thought I'd link it here so that those of you who haven't seen it already and wanted something like it can take a look :-

A Youtube video that illustrates some of the same :-

What I'm looking for now is a guide to replace the RAM modules. So far, my experience with hardware extends only to desktops :p owing to endless hours spent on my old P4.... I have no experience with laptops for that matter! So if any of you guys know how its done or have come across a guide for it, please post it here for everyone to have a look and benefit from. Cheers!

Review the steps and info in the service manual links. Give yourself plenty of time (and room to work) and have the serv manual open on another system if possible.

I don't have one either [yet] and I agree with you. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks for the links, BatBoy :)
