I can't really say as i have an R2 and am more than happy with the performance and so don't feel the need to OC

I overclocked my old m11x r2 to get some better performance. I used the laptop for 2 years with no problems and i used to torture it with high temps when i was gaming. Didn't notice much of an effect on the battery life after OC'ing (had it plugged in whilst gaming though). I installed throttlestop and only turned it on when i was gaming thus saving battery life

In answer to ur question it depends how u use/want to use ur laptop. Do you want to get the maximum lifespan out of the machine? Don't OC. Want the max performance possible? OC.

If you do decide to OC look up a guide on this forum. If it's anything like the m11x u need to OC in bios and then install throttlestop to get the performance benefits
