    So for like a week now my g and shift keys have been acting up. If I don't press down hard enough on them they don't work. I don't know what caused this but I'd like a fix cause I need g for grammar while typing and I use shift a lot with my games. From what I've gathered over the interweb, I have to take the keys out, but I'm not sure to do it regularly or remove the entire keyboard via undoing the screws. Need some advice from someone who really knows, help me.

    There are two possibilities causing this problem;
    1. There's some dirt under the keys affected causing the problem - to remove the keys you just have to gently pry them up from one side until they unclip then you can continue to gently pry on them until they come off completely and you can give the area underneath a good clean. Dont try to pull them off to quickly or you will break the clips holding them on and wont be able to put the keys back on.
    2. The keyboard membrane underneath the keys affected is worn out through use. The only solution to this would be to replace the whole keyboard.

    Spray compressed air under the keys or just get a new keyboard like the above person said.

    If you are still under warranty you can contact Dell and they might send out a tech to your home and replace the entire keyboard, thats what they did when one of my keys snapped off.

    Funny thing, my G and Shift keys work fine now (after an entire week) and now my 5 key is messed up. I didn't try any of the solutions yet. I wonder why this happened.

    There must be dirt under it, as Kluchy stated above, if the machine is still under warranty you can send us an e-mail to [email protected] and we'll help out with the replacement keyboard.
