    Hey folks,

I got an M14x-R1 that has been behaving weirdly in the following way.

I can put the machine to sleep by closing the lid. A significant percent of the time, when I open the lid, the machine will not wake up. I have to hit the power button to get it to turn on, and on boot I'll encounter the Windows unexpected shutdown screen.

I went through the Windows logs and I am noticiing that when I get the "unexpected shutdown", the system does not actually enter sleep right before (no Event ID = 42 events preceeding Event IDs 41 and 6008).

I've updated to the latest BIOS but it didn't seem to help.

    Any ideas?

This sounds like a driver issue and or bad code from an installed app.

Windows needs to be able to properly talk to hardware to come in and out of sleep. Might want to look at the chipset driver or video driver. Or just find the software that is running that might be causing a crash during the wake.

I would back up files and put a fresh install of OS. Many other ways to tackle this, however this way you will insure a clean registry. I would not blame this one hardware.
