I know it's early but I would like to see a tear down of the M14x. I have 2x4GB sticks of Kingston hyperx ram 1600MHz that I want to put in it when it get's here on Wednesday. Hopefully Dell have made the M14x accessible like earlier models.

There's a guide in the M14x service manual. The ram is very easy to get to.

Hard drive is pretty easy too. Keyboard, Wireless and bluetooth are easy too. CPU is difficult. Graphics cant be changed anywaz. Guide covers opening hard drive also.

So Dell did make the M14x accessible with neat little spring loaded screws on the bottom lid so you wouldn't loose any screws. I have tinkered under the hood a bit found out that Dell ships these laptops with 1600MHz ram. But depending on with CPU you have (not the one i have) it wont even run at 1600MHz, the CPU I have is the i7 2630QM witch according to Intel's website only supports 1066/1333MHz. So their shipping theses laptops with 1600MHz DDR3 in them and the Computer down clocks the ram to 1333MHz. That's a real ty thing to do Dell, having people think that this laptop runs 1600MHz DDR3 when they purchase your product. I'm over it now. I did see the slots were the Wireless HD chip goes, under the battery next to the Intel Mini card (witch only has 2 antenna wires so no Intel 6300 or other mini card's that support 3 antennas). So if you could find a Wireless HD chip you could install at a later date.
