Hello there, a lot of time i dont be here, so lets go to the problem, I have a m15x with a lot of problems, they change me like 2 MoBo, 3 graphic cards, 2 HDD, 2 screens, 2 keyboards... and i dont know what else , so they offer me a replacement, i just wanna know what do you thin about this replacement, and if I should accept it, my original configuration was the following:

Alienware M15x - Negro Cósmico, Windows® 7 Home Premium Original de 64 bits en Español

And they are offering me the following:

As you can see, almost all its the same, in fact i get a better processor, better HDD, and more RAM, and faster, but I have a small screen, and the graphics card are 1.5 GB, unfortunately, they said i cant add o change parts paying a diference, because its a change of equipment...

but i can change parts, for example take a i5 and get the 3 gb GT555, but i preffer the i7

So i want the opinion from you, that already have a m14x, should i leave like these?, or would you change something?

    Thanks!!!

By the way here in México dont offer the m17x, only m11x & m14x :(

LOL I think you should write in english (pero hablo español, creo lo dice en las reglas del foro, en fin), well, you have a bad experience with your m14x, as i have it with my m15x, but i see a lot of people that never complain about m15x, so i dont knnow, maybe we have bad luck with our equipments...

Yeah its a forum rule for English I think, unsure though. But I had a G72GX with a GTX 260M + Core 2 Duo and the m14x games better in my opinion. The battery life will be alot better, itll perform better, itll be more portable, itll have native usb 3.0 support, ect. If it was like a 6970M m15x itd be different but youre basically get the +/- the same specs in a smaller package with 3x the battery life

I'd take it (it's an excellent machine - surpassed my expectations), but...

If you want something bigger ...maybe see if you can contribute some cash towards a possible M17XR3 "replacement". Never hurts to ask.

(I've done ^ with HP before, not sure if Dell/AW does it as well)

you don't need 3GB GT555 memory. The gpu can't handle games with more detail that would eat more than 1.5GB, it's just a marketing thing.

I really like m17x, but as I say Dell dont sell it here in latin america :( and in the Mail they said me that I can't give cash in order to upgrade or change parts :/

Yes I think the same... But maybe some of you have better performance with 3 gb, just want to ask.. :)

Well thanks I think say it's ok and get this replacement :)

3GB is only good if you hook up the M14X to two external monitors simultaneously. Otherwise, it's a marketing ploy to give buyers the illusion that they'll get more FPS :)

Its not really worth 100$, but we had a thread a while ago where me and a couple other users showed us using over 1500mb of VRAM. I got up to 2100mb of VRAM being used in Crysis Warhead and still maintained 35fps at 1366x768. I would really only expect this in Crysis and if you modded Skyrim to have HUGE view distances, as I think its mainly textures using all this memory. If you can get it for 50$ or under though, it may be worth while

Yes, it is one of the rules: NBR Forum Rulse.

    To OP:

If it was to me, I definitely go for the M14x since the M14x win hand down to M15x's. However DO NOT go for the 3GB version of the GT555M because most likely you'll get the GF116 version of the card which some owner who currently own that card are having problems installing new driver, but not all 3GB GF116 user are all experiencing this problem though the percentage for one is high and likely that you'd have the problem too, Plus the 3GB will Not give you any performance boost since the clockspeed is basically the same, and is useless unless you use it to play game on dual monitor that you would need that much of memory.

I remember that one, however I think those are virtual memory, since those virtual memory tend to hold as twice or thrice as the physical memory, because IIRC I also remember seeing a post where the poster say that he got the 1.5GB and yet it use more than 1.5GB of memory (Correct me if I'm wrong because I read thread quite a long time ago)

LOL yes i already see that if you write in other langauge that english have to put the translation :D

Well I already said that i'm ok with that specifications, and yes I see the post about that problem with the latest driver, so i'm not really a daily gamer, just when i have vacations :p jaja, I think the 1.5 GB its ok for me, now i'm like child waiting for new toy...

thanks all of you for your opinions & comments :D
