hey guys so I bought an m14x r2 back in 2013 and while at first I ran Dota 2 and other games smoothly now it can't function with everything on low. The fan get super loud and it sounds like a turbine and only then can I pull off decent frame rates. Even games like rocket league can't run except on low settings. Can I restore it or is this a lost hope? It is an i7 12gb ram with the 650m. Also I'm completely open to reformatting. Any advice would be appreciated. Oh and also the batter can't hold charge for ****. Like ten min full to 0

The battery is probably can't hold as much charge as it used to (I'm thinking too much wear on it), and the fan are probably dusty. I suggest dusting the fan and applying good quality thermal paste to the CPU and GPU. The comprehensive manual on Dell's support site should guide you in dissembling the laptop.
As for the battery, you'll have to buy a new one.

After not using it for some time, it's normal that this happens. Repasting should help a lot if it's not very dusty inside and even if it is.

You could check the battery's wear level. I'm pretty sure it's very close to 85% with the symptoms that you describe. If that's the case... As brother Game7a1 says, a replacement is the only way out.
