Either I'm just too impatient or it takes really long. But I didn't create a recover disk. I put all I needed on a flash drive. Created a restore point, and oh the factory settings on there, and saved my games and things. So tonight for the 5th time this week everything was deleted off my computer by this virus, so I used alien respawn to restore everything to factory settings. Once I finished all that, and clicked restart it just stayed there. So I manually restarted it by clicking restart on the menu. Now I've been staring at a screen that says "downloading files" for an hour now. At first a bar loaded quickly now nothing's happened. Is it supposed to take this long? Or did I do something wrong?

Hi there, it is very easy to make clean Win7 installation on your M14X + getting newest drivers and making your laptop 'look as from the factory' WITHOUT the recovery partition. Maybe your recovery partition got corrrupted, however, believe me it just takes 20 Gigs from your disk. Before installing Win7 I would delete/format all partitions on your HDD resulting in one partition for Win7 install.

Please follow this link. I hope this helps.

p.s. Have you been using antivirus program? If yes which one?

Microsoft essentials. I called Alienware and they said what has happened isn't under warranty. But failure of hardware is? Didn't make sense.

Apparently I'm not being told something. I have a light out and a broken USB port. And was told if something like that we're to happen the laptop would be replaced. Now I'm being told that they have to be tested that their broke. So what if some how accidentally this fell down the stairs or got water dropped on it. What would happen then?
