Has anyone used CS6 (or CS5) Premiere Pro, and verified that the nVidia card does work with the Mercury engine?

I did some searches here and found discussion about doing this, but no actual reports of first hand experience.

I know that the M14x is small for video editing - but I just did a bunch of editing on a Fujitus P770 with 12.1" (1280x800) screen and ULV i7, and that was a LOT better than getting nothing done at all! :)

Portability is important to me in a laptop. I have desktops to work with when home, and would like to upgrade to something with more horsepower than my Fujitsu. The P770 has been a major workhorse for a couple of years, and will continue in some roles, but a higher res screen and Mercury engine support would be really nice.

    Thanks in advance!

I have a copy of CS6 installed on a m14xR2 I can test for you. I know virtually nothing about PPro through. When I go to create a new project the "video rendering and playback" drop-down is greyed out and lists "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only". im guessing thats not what you were hoping for, but if it requires a plugin or changing a default setting let me know and ill try it again for you. hope that helps, good luck!

The Mercury engine only works with certified nVidia cards by default. You have to edit a file and add your card's ID to make the software aware of the video card.

At the moment, the name of the file escapes me. If you are interested in trying it, I will dig it up and send it to you......if I can find the time before we leave on vacation.

That is why I was asking if anyone had done this with an M14x. There are reports with other laptops of stability issues with nonsupported video cards.
