So this morning I turned on my 3 week old Alienware M14x and for some reason my screen resolution was set to 1024 x 768, whereas it usually is 1600 x 900. It only gives me the option of changing it to 800 x 600. Also, it does not register the fact that I have an ethernet cable plugged in, so I have to use Wi-Fi. At first I figured it was a driver issue so I updated my graphics driver but still no use. Any suggestions?

These are my specs, if it helps:

    PROCESSOR: Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 2670QM (2.20Ghz, 6MB, 4C)
OPERATING SYSTEM: English Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
    GRAPHICS CARD: 3GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT555M
HARD DRIVE: 750GB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive
LCD: 14.0" (36 cm) Widescreen High Definition + (1600x900) WLED with TrueLife

I just installed the Intel HD graphics driver and the screen resolution is back to normal, thanks a bunch!
However, there is still the issue with the ethernet cable. When I look into Device Manager I see Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20) with Driver Version: 1.0.0.36, which is the latest, I believe. When I click its properties it says in the Device Status: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

I tried MicrosoftFixIt but that didn't help. What now? >.<

You can download and reinstall this Atheros AR8151 Driver for the Ethernet.

I tried re-installing with the link CGSDR put, but that didn't solve the problem, I still get the Code 31. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?
