I have an M14x R2 with an i7 3610qm and the stock 6GB of ram. It is stock in the bios (no overclocking). I have attempted to run both memtest86 and memtest86+ from an Ultimate Boot CD I have used a lot in the past and the laptop flat out is not running it. Once selected the laptop reboots immediately.

As far as I can tell I am not having any issues with the stock ram but wanted to test a Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1866 kit I have since this is my 3rd kit (other 2 died and were RMA'd). At first I thought it may be the Corsair ram sucking again but swapped back the original ram and saw the same behavior.

Is there any trick to getting memtest to run on the M14x that I am not aware of?

    Thanks in advance!

I will give that a try, it had occurred to me that the CPU may not be supported but the same memtest worked on my M18x R1 with 2920xm (very similar architecture) so I will be surprised if that is all that needs to be done.

Scook, where you been man, nice to see you around. Since when did you give up the 18X? I just traded my R2 for a Clevo  lol. Hope all is well bro.

I got the latest version of Memtest86+ (v4.20) and it is running properly now. Looks like the Corsair kit is crap....again.....that is 0 for 3, think I am officially done with Corsair and stick to Kingston from here out. Corsair has a great RMA group, but I do not want to need to use it so often! Got a Kingston 8gb DDR3-1866 kit and it is testing now, without any issues (brand new Corsair kit started erroring in under a minute.....)

DR6750SE - why you go to the dark side? lol I have looked at Clevo many times before, and never made it past that horrible keyboard :( Should have gotten an M18x instead, true upgrade to your M17x R2. Dell gave me a full refund on my M18x after 15 months of use because the GPU died and they had no replacement stock for about a month. How could I say no to that?! Now I have the M14x R2 as well as a monster desktop (SLI GTX 670, RAID 0 Intel 520 SSD, Core i7 3770k watercooled, 16gb HyperX ram). Realized that the M18x was never leaving the desk anyways, so a smaller laptop and desktop made more sense. Had to replace the M11x R1 as my "mobility" solution, that thing was really starting to show its age.
