I currently own an M14x R2 here are my specs

    3630qm
    GT 650m 2gb
    16gb ddr3
    Windows 8 Pro
    Nvidia 314.07 drivers

I've never experienced such bad throttling in any game such as Crysis 3. Every time I play it runs good for a few mins, the stock clock when gaming on my gpu is 835mhz, the gpu clock comes down to a 135mhz for a few seconds and the framerate just dip to a 8fps which is unacceptable given that the GPU temps are 66 and the CPU temps are 85 I would expect does dips at 90+ but 85? cmon... and I HAVE NEVER EVER GOTTEN THROTTLING BEFORE 314.07 Just as I was writting this I've tried it in other games to see if it was just Crysis 3 doing that, tried BF3 and it did the SAME THING, I did a clean driver install and nothing.

    Is anyone else experiencing this?

Try going back to the driver Dell recommends 307.07.

I know they are old, but for me, so far that's the only driver that didn't cause me throttling.

I went back to 310 and it still throttles but not so much. It only drops down clock by 100hz so 730hz is not that bad and the frames don't take such a massive hit. I can't believe I'm the only one complaining, I expected more people to talk about it. I am seriously thinking about installing a custom bios but I haven't found a good guide on how to do it.

I just came home and I am also using a notebook cooler the ZM-NC2000 and so far is doing its job really good, is keeping the laptop 5-7 degrees cooler so no throttling but still what if I wanna game on the road?

Is someone else also experiencing this?

I haven't been throttling but my fans have been spinning a lot more than usual since I installed them. It was really noticeable from the 310 I was using prior.

So far, 307.17 is the only driver it actually works for me.

Not sure if it's something that I can't figure out or just something wrong with the new drivers for this laptop.

If I go to Dell Drivers session only driver 307.17 was approved for my M14x R2, Dell is not recommending to update to 310 or even 314.17. I guess there's a reason why.

Anyway since with default drivers it works like a charm I'm not really complaining I just hope Dell approved the new drivers soon.

BTW, I can see that Dell release on 2/21 the A11 BIOS, hopefully that can fix something.

For everyone that is being throttled, can you please post your bios version and the driver version. Also if you are using any 3rd party tools for fan control or overclocking? Thanks

While testing my FPS and temps for adequate O/C... I also noticed that the Furmark had a 800mhz throttle... :S But didn't really look into it until now...

After reading this, Im definitely going back to 307... Ive already rolled back to 310... D/L 307 as we speak...

Will i see an increase in FPS???

Update to the latest BIOS and use the latest DELL drivers only are the only recommendations that we provide for this type of issues.
