Hello everyone, I tried to update my M14x R1 to win 8.1 by downloading the update from the store, but the update does not work.

Drain the sw from the Store, install, requires a reboot to finish the configuration, start the configuration, but about 18% will restart saying that it must restore the system because "you can not upgrade" 0x8007025D - 0x22000C

Now my R1 has Win8, Samsung Evo 500gb, ram 16gb, and it works perfectly.

I doubt that it is the intel HD3000 GPU which for some reason does not allow the update.

Someone has managed to do the update from the store?

    thanks and hello :hi2:

I don't think the BIOS will allow it. I tried Windows 8 and it ran so bad on my 14x that I went back to 7..

strange , I have Win8, and all my works without problems.

As I have bios A08 with SATA fix Mod, what enables SATA3.

But Win8, also worked with A08 Original Dell.

    Ciao :hi2:

I've seen different users with random issues to download W8. Most of the suggestions have pointed out to secure boot. Have you tried disabling that?

Hello, secure boot in the bios of the M14xR1 not find it, do you think it was added by R2, or I just did not find it.

    Ciao :hi2:

The Windows 8.1 update has been terrible to say the least. It got pulled off the app store for RT devices because it was bricking Surface RTs. I'm not sure how that made it past the QA team, if they even have one.

One fix for the blue screen during the 8.1 install on x86/x64 processors is to have any USB based mouse (wireless or wired) disconnected for the install process. I know this is a stupid thing but it has been causing problems. Make sure you have the latest BIOS, disable secure boot, and you should be good to go.

True, added to the R2 BIOS's. The R1 was not officially approved for W8. :p

But it is absurd that Win 8 works, and Win 8.1 will not install.

    Ciao

I updated my M14xR1 to WIN 8.1 through the windows store just fine. I am using BIOS A08. Also, I had the latest video drivers already installed (not the ones on Dell's site).

    Installed Win 8.1 :D :D

Iso downloaded from Technet, updated Win8 to Win8.1, reboot, installed latest drv Intel HD 3000 (Win64_152818) the drv had put me 40p Hz, changed with 60p Hz

launched win update, I downloaded 9 updates, including the network card, reinstalled Ramdisk and 8GadgetPackSetup.

    Now it all works.

    Thank you all.

    Ciao ;)
