I've installed Windows 8 Pro on my laptop and 90% of it is in working order. But I'm missing 2 drivers, one of which is the Wifi drivers(Windows installed a default driver for it but every so often I lag in conditions where I haven't). I'm also missing the touchpad drivers, i think. I can't configure it for palm rejection.

The wifi card i have is the Intel 6250 + Wimax.

Have you looked for the drivers in the respective manufacturers website?

The wifi drivers are on Intel's site. The second missing driver is the freefall sensor and you can install the windows 7 driver from dells website... If you want a few updated drivers for your R1 you can use the Windows 8 Drivers that match from the R2 drivers page =p

I upgraded to Windows-8 last night and all I can say is "WOW"! Best Windows OS by far! I've used all kinds of Operating Systems since Windows-98, including Sun and Linux, and Windows-8 is hands down the best!

Here is Dell's link for the Windows-8 drivers. Just make sure you choose "Windows-8" from the operating system drop down menu.

If you are having problems in downloading the drivers from manufacturer website then i would suggest to download the drivers with some driver scanning tool that will search for missing and outdated drivers online. You can download the drivers easily.

    Hi Guys,

I am currently using Windows 8 RP on M14x R1 and planning to upgrade to full version of W8 since the release preview will expire in 2 weeks. M14x R1 is currently not supported by dell for windows 8, so I was wondering what should I do prior upgrading to Win 8 Pro. So far I've just updated the Wifi driver and flashed the BIOS and updated to A08. Do I need to do anything to have a successful upgrade and not have any issues with bootup, wifi, touchpad etc...
