I decided that today i would try out battlefield 3 on my m14x for the first time and i was ashamed at how bad the performance was. I was getting at most 20 fps on low settings! I know something is messed up but I cant figure out what it is. I see people running this game on youtube on their m14x on ultra at 30 fps. I opened the nvidia control panel and changed the computer and the program (battlefield) to use the nvidia high performance card, but that did not help at all. What gives? Heres my specs:
    Intel Core i7 3610qm 2.2 ghz
    6 gb ram
    Nvidia GT 650m 1 gb

    Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Open the power options and check the advanced power options, scroll to the bottom and check the 'Graphics Processor'. See if this is set to maximum performance, especially if you've got your machine plugged in to AC power.
You can also access that in AlienFusion.

I found that when this is set to 'balanced', the GT650M only runs at up to 405MHz (2D performance clocks), which caused my 3DMark 11 scores to be only in the range of P1100. It must be set to max performance to run at 745MHz/835MHz, which kind of negates the point of the power savings system in a way...

Otherwise, if that doesn't work, check other things like your drivers, conflicting software, etc. And let someone else from here advise you too - I've only had my own M14x a few days so I don't know all of the quirks myself.

ok so i checked my power settings, and the setting was already on max performance.

also, i dont know how to get the latest drivers for the nvidia 650m. nvidias website tells me there arent any drivers for it, and when it searches my computer its comes up saying it cant find my gpu.

Only a beta driver is available so far for the 600m series. I've been happy using it since day 1.

You can try the BETA driver, you should also take a look into this article for the best settings to run the game.
