thats great thanks
but does the actually design on the keyboard change ? :O
like the enter key is large on uk but small on US ? -
Yes. The layout above is what you'll see with either keyboard. On the US keyboard, the key will be one row high and about three long. On the UK keyboard, it'll be two rows high and about 1.5 keys long.
-
can you swap out hese keyboards ?
So i can buy a UK keyboard and swap it -
Yeah, you can. That's what I'll be doing.
-
Where are you going to get it from ?
-
eBay (or another third party), if I can find one, if not I guess Dell.
-
i might just ask for one from dell when/if my brother decides to get his laptop.
Does the M14x have any where that you can put an internal TV card ?
like an express card slot or something -
Does anyone know what size the M14x box will be ?
I need to know so i can get a more accurate quote for shipping
Or if no one knows, maybe you have an M15x box or M11x Box to make an educated guess from ? -
O_O
-
^ Well that would be cool. Dunno if accurate though.

I need you guys opinion. I came across this forum AFTER placing my order and got the 3GB GPU upgrade for $75 extra. Take a look below for my configuration. Can someone please shed some light if I should cancel and re-order? Which parts should I downgrade and upgrade? I got this for $1318 after the farmer's discount. Your expertise advise would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

I just ordered mine. Standard specs except for an upgraded screen.

^ Nice. I guess if I want one fast next time they roll out a new model, I will have to get a more mainstream config.

Just ordered mine. I weighed up the pros and cons of getting one from hid evolution or locally from Dell Australia. Considering it wasn't working out to be any cheaper through hid (I had a 10% off Australian coupon), in fact I was sacrificing stuff to keep the price down, all so I could get WirelessHD. I decided although the feature is amazing and would be useful for me, it's silly downing ram, os, hdd and having to deal with customs just for a single feature I wouldn't use every day. For around $150 more, my system is fully decked out with the highest options, except for an i7 2720 instead of the highest CPU (which is overkill/expensive).
That said, I was a fool to wait so long - now my order isn't expected until 1 June. Had I just bought it as normal when the computer was announced, I'd probably be getting it sooner. Oh well.
With any luck WirelessHD may be able to be added later - assuming the mobo's of those with and without are identical. There's hope. -
Guys can i get your opinion on this please.. This is the spec of the Laptop
This comes to a total price of £1248 and thats including Wireless HD with receiver

-
wow, hope mine comes soon, i ordered mine on the 22!
-
I just got my wireless HD kit. It wasn't expected to ship until 5/13/2011. Also no email confirmation saying it shipped.
-
I ordered mine April 20th, and it says shipping preparation!!
-
Mine (ordered April 19) went from "In Production" to "Finalizing Production"
-
Wow, this is incredible news. It seems that it takes 5 business days to build and ship and depending on what shipping method you used, you could potentially receive it in 6-12 business days from the time you order.

Dang.. I noticed none of the those getting shipped are in the US...
-
Screen - 50$ vs 75$
HD - 50$ vs 75$
(and a couple more things)
which is all surprising since the US is usually the fastest/cheapest.
The cheapest built Alienware system in the world right now including taxes is one ordered from Alberta, Canada, since they have 5% tax and as mentioned, upgrades are cheaper (and starting price is the same). Someone could make a living as a reseller in that province -
I ordered on 19th in the U.S.
Basic model with upgraded screen and graphics, red color.
It has now entered "Delivery Preparation".
-
Yes I'm u.s. And in delivery prep.
-
Screw it, my R2 will be a base model so I don't wait 20 days longer next time.

I just cannot resist the £300 off + another 10% cashback ev-vat value on TCB! -

It is software, so I am pretty sure you can still buy it off Dell after receipt of the machine.
Actually according to some googled results, some users report the software is a piece of crap - does nothing but use some extra processor juice. Its just a equalizer -
Mine says shipped,,ordered on the 19th.
Phillip -
on the order details page im still in "finalizing production", but under my purchase id it says "ship complete". For those intrested, I ordered the 19th @ ~10AM eastern. 2820, 1600x900, wirelessHD, 3GB 555, base RAM and HDD.
