Has anybody been brave enough to try installing Mac OS on their M14x via the hackintosh route? With hackintosh discussions now permitted on the forums, we can finally discuss dual-booting Mac OS X on these systems. There appears to have been some success with the R1, so I am more interested in hearing about R2 users' experiences. It should be even better off with the 650M drivers in Mountain Lion.

I am currently stuck between an Alienware M14x, HP Envy 15, or 2011 MacBook Pro for my in-between system until I can upgrade to the Retina MacBook Pro. As long as Mac OS can run well on the M14x R2, it would be a wiser investment for $800-$1200 vs $1500 for the 2011 MacBook Pro.

Be sure to mention any issues: incompatibility, crashes, boot-up errors, etc. when discussing.

You might want to check if the hardware on the M14x R2 is compatible or not.

These includes USB, HDMI, screen, and other ports. Sometimes might be a BIOS issue.

Try tonymacx86 and see if you can get better help there

Unfortunately, other users have posted about the system on tonymacosx86 with no response so it would be pointless to make another thread on the topic of the M14x R2. All parts except possibly USB should be compatible based on R1 findings, although some of the drivers could have changed besides the CPU and GPU. Nonetheless, Ivy Bridge CPUs and NVIDIA 650M are supported in the new version of Mac OS, Mountain Lion so they should work whereas users had more difficulty in the past with Lion.

Very interested to hear if anybody has gotten Mac OS working on the R2 before I make the switch only to find that I have to get rid of my new M14x since I still want to continue using Mac OS.
