I bought the m14xr2 10 months ago and the LEFT hinge on my laptop hinge broke. I went to Dell customer service and they told me that this is normal wear and tear rather than a manufacturing defect and it is not covered by the extended warranty. Is there anything I can do? I only have Next Business Day Support and XPS Technical Support.

    thank you

I had the hinge issue on the m11x, where it was an acknowledged issue and they did send someone to correct it. That was on a machine with the standard warranty. I'd keep calling back until you get a tech on the phone that is more agreeable. I tend to find their support hit miss - some phone reps are useless, some are very helpful. Also, a hinge breaking with 10 months - that doesn't sound like normal wear and tear to me, unless you flung it out the window or something.

If that doesn't work try contacting one of the AW reps on this forum. They do their best to help us out.

If I could I would do anything to help out but unfortunately we do not consider that a known defect. We have released an article about the opening angle of the machine for correct use. We escalated the issue to engineering in the past and they concluded that the issue was being caused due to that and not due to materials. If you had accidental damage we would be able to help out more.
