i want to know what some of the M14x users are getting for battery life.
im debating between m11x and m14x. going to use it for school so i need battery but if there isnt too much of a difference in battery life i might consider the m14x

so how long would the m14x last when doing mundane tasks like word processing, pandora/music, and surfing the web?

    thanks

4-5 hours on Balanced in Windows 7, with no extra crap running (Adobe Speedlauncher, etc. stuff like that) and AlienFX on.

I get 3-3 and a half on power saver, lowest brightness, alien fx off, with just web browsing. It depends if you need the better gaming performance from the m14x vs the enhanced portability/battery life from the m11x. The m14x is okay for portability, but it's a bit bulky, and if you're not going to be gaming on battery, a lot of the weight is just dead weight that's not being used, but if it's your main gaming console/system, the m14x beats any xbox/ps3 in graphics.

Don't forget that the keyboard is smaller on the M11x. It seems like 4.5 hours is a reasonable expectation for the M14x for light tasks, moderate screen brightness and the thing not dancing around like a disco. The overall size of the M11x is what makes me think it's not for me. I really wish it had another inch/normal size keyboard and that all the screen real estate was used.

I need the keyboard layout of the M17x and the weight/battery life of the M11x. My how the impossible exists in our minds. :p
