Congrats, I remember when my m14x first came, was so happy. Fps are okay as well, and the nvidia gt555m overclocks like a best.

have not played any games....yet but...with youtube...it runs fine....not really hot...though i did feel that the right side below the keyboard on the palm rest..does get a little hot...but i have not faced any major issues....Also one observation that did scare me...when i open my lid...thr...was a clicking sound on the lcd..with a ripple in the center but after a few tries...its running fine now..probably something that was obstructing has moved and is fine ..lets hope it stays that way :)

Buy an SSD and replace that drive if you want to see a very noticeable reduction in the heat under the right wrist rest area.

Just got my M14x yesterday and I've noticed that on the top, middle left hand corner of the screen bezel there is a ~1mm gap between the screen and the rubber/plastic rim that encloses the screen (gap spans about 2 inches). I can see light seeping out of this gap so is this common or did I receive a defective unit?

I think I can use a little super glue and squeeze in and close the gap but I want to know if this is an appropriate/safe fix to this problem? Is it worth sending the unit in for repair or will they exchange it for a brand new unit since it's within the 21 day return period?

Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Nooo.. don't use glue. The plastic cover is a separate piece that you can (delicately) remove from the front. Just slide your fingers in the space between the LCD and the plastic and you can remove it. Sounds like yours has not been clipped down all the way.

Remove it and reattach it, or just press around the outer edge to ensure that all the clips are locked on.

yea never use any sort of glue around your screen, it is very easy to slip or smudge the glue on your screen and it will be permanently ruined

i agree with mojorific that it is probably just the plastic cover not being pressed down all the way, if it is still an issue call Dell and see what they say
