M14x AlienFX themes

I think we should start a topic on this, since themes are laptop specific. Here's 1 I quickly made.

 

I think there should be a whole web site dedicated to FX themes, organized by model... But until then this is works. I'll post mine when I get home, I've made a couple that I like - a red and blue one and an arctic one.

 

Would anyone like to take request for themes? I suck at making them lol. All I have is solid colors and the rainbow one I downloaded from youtube.

Anyway what do you guys think? Help a noob out?

Great thread, great posts! Looks like we need more posts here, so why don't I try, methinks? Anybody have a link to get the AlienFX SDK or something?

I am really trying to mess with the itunes visualizer.. I have it working but not as nice as everyone else's (dont really understand the hz changes) (Im wondering if we can get them from someone like these .ATFs

 

No need link, it is already in your Alienware Machine, all you need is copy this link and paste it in your Windows Explorer:

C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\AlienFX SDK

If your Windows drive is C (Default), else it will be at the same path just different Drive label. In there it has all the PDFs Tutorial with examples inside.

 

LoL I feel so stupid thanks for saving my skin there! Now where can I find an Alienware since I haven't got my m14x yet...

 

Lol that's alright. But those PDFs is for if you going to mess around with the code for app like Integrater (Sorry not if this is his name) use for Winamp Plugin.

For these theme everyone here posting, you can just do it with the command centre, just enable the advance theme option and u can create the same one with the command centre.

 

You may hate me for this but I'm going to bump this to see if anyone has made anything new

Made a RGB theme today, thought I'd share

 

Here is my Mirage theme.

Let people watch the keyboard, and they'll tilt their heads, thinking the color changes depending on their viewpoint .

PS : At least it worked on my friends

I set my iTunes visualizer quite badly I guess.. The light show isn't as great as what was on Youtube

I think that counts because the theme definitely helped those who want cool themes but can't create one as cool as this one

Sticky please? I mean, the themes are probably Alienware's most defining characteristic.

 

I made this theme a while ago but it seems to be my most used one. Everytime I make another theme, I always go back to this one. Everyone likes it the most too:

 

Theme I made that i keep going back to myself.

 

This Theme was inspired by the CN tower nightly light shows in Toronto.

 

These are some that I made! All of them are advanced themes. Personally, I love the green and purple one. It's really pretty! And to pay homage to my Nyancat progress bar, I HAD to make a Nyancat theme! :3 Also, I made a theme to start up when I play WoW. For that one, it's reds, deep purples and oranges. Hope everyone likes them! I worked hard!

Since I've been playing Portal a lot recently, I pretty much had to make a theme for it

Here's one I made, it shifts through all the colors, people sometimes notice after a few minutes and are like "WOAH, the keyboard's changing colors"

 

What do you mean? iTune plugin you can find it on your laptop through this path: C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\Media Plugin\iTunes in there you'll find a file called WiTunesAlienFXPlugin.dll copy it and paste the file to this path: C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins

Note: The Windows default drive is C If you install your Windows on a different drive, then just change the "C" to whatever drive you install.

I'm open to requests if anyone has any! I'll do my best to make them well. Just tell me the game or the colors you'd like represented, and I'll put them together as soon as I can! I enjoy making themes, so it seemed like a good idea to offer!

 

It's under View > Visualizer, now make sure that you have the Alienware AlienFX checked, then click on Option, in there you will have the option to change the lighting at your will, it is not as many as for Winamp but at least it is better than WMP and better than nothing. Also make sure that you have the "Enable 3rd Party AlienFX Access" in the AlienFX in the system tray. On some occasion you might have to reinstall the command centre to get it work.

 

Man I know where the plugin is and where it goes. That has nothing to so with the setinggs for the diffrent zones for the FX to hit at diffrent times. Or does everyone let it blink and flash at random without ever changing any setting and have it not even stay with the music and just get mezmorized by the blinking even when nothing is playing?

 

If nothing is playing, then the light will stay at the same colour of the last blink. Until you play another song, then it will continue.

 

OK let me clarify some more. Since I stated that the lights do flash but not in sync with the music so well its not a problem with it not working but you can go into the settings and change when the freqs hit certain zones and diffrent colors. Please dont confuse what Im asking with how to get it to work.

 

Just a gauge of interest, how many would be interested if I made a Facebook group so that everyone interested can join and upload files to a central location?

lol You got horribly confused there. What he meant is that since the color is customizable in iTunes corresponding to the frequency of the beat (measured in hz), it would be nice if someone can upload a file with specific light settings (color and location: speaker left/right, keyboard left/right, etc...) that would make an amazing light show for certain types of music (since different music genres have different frequency range).

It sucks that you can't save the settings for iTunes... But I have a pretty sweet setup, I can list out all the settings here later for you guys to copy

Has anybody noticed that sometimes the iTunes plugin is faster and sometimes it just sucks? Mine seems kind of inconsistant. Probably iTunes' fault.
