    Hi everybody,
So I recently decided to install 2 hard drives in my M14x. I removed the original 750gb momentus drive and replaced it with the vertex 2 ssd. I then put the 750gb momentus drive into the optical drive caddy. However I then begant to get problems. When starting it would either hang on the alienware logo or the starting windows logo. When I tried to access the drive windows explorer would usually crash. I thought this might be because I didn't format the momentus before installing it so I tried to format it which failed and later it stopped showing up altogether. I think the optical drive cable is broken but i'm no expert. Sorry if this post is a bit long but its a complex problem to me at least.

Which are you booting to? The SSD?

How did you get your data to the SSD drive? Was it a fresh install, or did you use some drive copy or imaging software?

So I called dell out if anyone is interested. The technician said that the little white clip connecting the drive to the motherboard is broken so they are going to replace the whole motherboard. I think its a bit drastic but as long as the problem is fixed. I will report on this when the mobo is replaced.
