    Hi everybody,
So I recently got my m14x replaced due to getting the motherboard replaced and the hdd/odd replaced and with this new computer comes a question. What I want to do is take out the 750gb hdd, put my vertex 2 ssd in the main port and use the 750gb as the 2nd hdd replacing the optical drive. However last time I tried to do this I had serious problems and people say that even when it works it's very slow and causes bottlenecks. So I want to know once and for all, does having a second hdd in your m14x work well or is it just too slow to live with.
    Thanks

Exactly what problems did you encounter?

I'm curious, in theory there should be no problem.

hmmmph i think it'll be fine... with a sata III card you might have it slow down a bit cause of recent updates (but i got one anyway lols)... but you'll still have sata II speeds in the primary slot. fyi, idk if this counts for sata II SSD's but sleep/hibernate functions seem to bluescreen these laptops (sometimes not, but i think the general majority are affected by this) - so you have to shut down your laptop whenever you want rather than the others (it sucks - but the restart time on my laptop is 20 or so seconds... IF that... it's amazing and worth the lack of sleep/hibernate).

edit: i love having a large hdd and an ssd (make sure to always custom install your programs - the less used ones at least - to your drive D)

Wow such quick responses! :D The problem I had last time was mainly that windows explorer crashed whenever I tried to access the hdd. It was probably because the first time I put the hdd in it still had win 7 and then I later formated the hdd but must have done something wrong. Anyway I will try using two hdds again see if it works ok i'm mainly worried that because it is SATA I (I believe) it will be slow and cause bottlenecks. I was using my vertex 2 in my old m14x and had no problems with the computer blue screening when going into hibernation.

I had problems when i first installed my ssd + original 500gb hdd into the bay (windows stalling, explorer crashing etc), found that i needed to put a jumper on the 500gb to put it into sata1.

Any who, I have windows 7 installed on the ssd, and origin \ battlefield 3 installed on the 500gb, and i have no slowdown what so ever, still extremely smooth.

also write speeds from the ssd to the 500gb are around 100mbps, which is more than enough i reckon
