    Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and this is my first time posting here. I am from Singapore, and will be studying information systems in August and I have a few questions.

    1) Is the M14x suited for IS students? Will the M14x last me the whole 4 years of my university?

    2) I am buying the M14x for 2 purposes: for school as well as for gaming. I only play Dota 2 and I foresee it to be the only game I will be playing in the next 4 years. How does the M14x cope with Dota 2?

    3) I have a budget of S$2500 (USD 2500). Alienware laptops are grossly overpriced here in Singapore. The best deal I can find is S$2100(USD 1700) for the following specs:
    i7-36300M
    750GB harddrive
    8GB ram
    GT650M.

Are there any Singaporeans on this forum who knows where I can get a better deal? I read on this forum that Alienware dealers browse these forums regularly. Are they able to give me a better price?

    4) the M17x r3 will be out in coming June. Should I buy the R2 or wait for the R3?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Chat with the Reps, they'll usually give you a good deal, Expect about 15% off and most will throw in free express shipping.

As for school, it should very comfortably handle most college tasks. CS major here.

If i were you i would look into some some online re-sellers like xoticpc. They have good customer service and is comparatively cheaper buying from dells crappy site or somewhere in Singapore. For 1700$ you can add a SSD or mSATA and upgrade to the 3740qm and get 2gb gt650m and also get the 900p screen .
Go check them out Alienware M14x - XOTIC PC - Alienware 14" Custom Gaming Notebook

BTW The gt650m will run DOTA 2 easily at good fps ! :)

Calling to sales is always the best option :) They'll give you their best deal to close the sale.

I understand I need to call sales. But I am from Singapore, and I'm really really unsure who to call (the reps on this forum are mostly USA based)

Don't have any info on the release date, it might be delayed or might be sooner than expected but I would personally wait.
    I would say it's a personal decision.

    Hi there,

I've actually looked at xtopicpc and hidevolution. yes it is much cheaper and the shipping fee of 158 USD and tax that I have to pay(7%) makes it only slightly cheaper from what I can get locally.
