I just purchased a M14X R2, Windows 8 64bit, i7-3610QM, 6GB Ram, 2GB 650M. I (of course) purchased it mainly for gaming. I have been gaming on a desktop for years, ever since my Clevo D900T died, back in 2008. So I am a looking to game some of the newer games, BioShock Infinite, Far Cry 3, and some older games.

    by older, I mean,

All 3 Modern Warfare and Black Ops.
    Far Cry 2
    BioShock 1 and 2
    Maybe the FEAR series.

Will these older games run in Windows 8??

I really love Windows 8, I am running it on a Thinkpad Tablet 2, Thinkpad X61, and my work Dell XT3 on a second partition (dual boot) with Windows 7 Ultimate/Window 8 Enterprise.

I realize most people just move on to the next game, but I like to get a little action on a older game every so often.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

As a added note, I do have a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and an extra 750GB HD, that I could install, would this be a better option? to Windows 8?

You don't have to worry about anything. Windows 8 will run all your games (I'm currently playing FEAR and Bioshock in W8) without any problems. Maybe you'll need to run them in compatibility mode, but thats all.

Have a good old-new gaming

I have convinced myself to "roll" with Windows 8 on this notebook, as I will wait and see if I have enough space for "all" the game that I play. I play about two levels of "Dishonored" and ran with no issues. I had to look for a "dangone" .dll file to get it to work properly. So I guess I am good.

I looked over the web link, I will have to check out the configuration of the GPU, thanks for the information.

I loaded up Far Cry 3, I started to play and in the intro video, I saw some shutter or lag, so I figure that I can not run a the current settings. I did check the NVidia setting and the game is listed for the G650M. If anyone can give me there current video settings to have this game run "good" or "acceptable" with decent frame rates I would appreciate it. Also, would this game run better on one of my desktops??

Asus 780i with Tri SLI 260GTX Black Editions, 8GB and Q9650
    eVGA 680i with SLI 8800GTS, 8GB and Q6600
Asus Rampage, X48 with Crossfire, ATI 5770, 8GB and Q9650

    Any comment would be appreciated.

My new M14X is my new portable notebook, it does not necessary need to run every game, I just purchased it to have a powerful portable that I could game on, if I wanted too.
