    Hi All,

The blue LED on the tip of the power adapter for my M14X R2 is blinking (rather I should say flickering) and sometimes completely off or very dim. The laptop charges fine and the AC icon indicates that it is plugged in; battery charges fine.

Different outlets, different areas of house show the same results. The blue light shows the flickering and dimming regardless of being plugged into the laptop or not.

I always use the laptop plugged in and extremely rarely on battery. Only since I've been traveling over the last two weeks have I noticed this problem. I have noticed no problems with performance.

Does this indicate a failing power adapter or could the LED just be on its way out?

If it works fine i'd say the led is on its way out.

Thanks for the reply simonmpoulton. That's my initial feeling too, but I'm leaving to go abroad next week for six months. My concern is that if I need to pick up a new adapter, I'll have to do it today or tomorrow to get it delivered in time.

I believe it's just the led. You mentioned you have been traveling, it could also be that it got damaged during those travels.

Thanks, Alienware-L_Porras. I've been to a few different countries in East Asia and I wonder if the different electrical outputs had any impact. I've had the adapter in my carry-on backpack, but there could have been some bumps that might have caused damage. I've got a few more long flights to go yet.

The LED has been completely out now for a few days, but the adapter is still powering the machine and charging the battery.

That could be the case, but if it had any impact, at least it wasn't severe enough to damage the AC adapter completely or the motherboard, just the LED. If everything is working fine, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Thanks for the reply. I'm finished with my travels now and back home. The LED is completely out, but the adapter is still working strong.
