Hi everyone,I have all kinds of heat related issues and I see others with similar problems.Today a Dell engineer said he was looking into it.I told him to look on NBR and Dells own forums there are alot of heat issues, dell even keeps trying bios updates to try and fix this. You guys know how Dell is.Lol.So I wanted to post this and anyone with glitches or fan and heat issues (please) comment.I was just told Dell is monitoring the forums,I hope that's true.I can barely play games it locks and shuts down and I repasted and am using a cooler.Personally I think it's a r1 design issue.Any one? :(

As you already know I have bios a6 and although it worked well at first I am getting random lock ups and my right palm rest was very hot,I can't post more as my M14X died after seeming perfect at first.I truly hope Dell get's this fixed.

shame the M14x has so many heat problems, I think its a good balance between power and portability. Hope they manage to fix the heat issues :(

I think so also but maybe rev2 m14 theyll fix the heat issues, theres more issues but heat imho is the biggest problem especially when you buy the worlds fastest 14 inch (gaming) laptop and cant play a game for 10 minutes if that.

For me I only get the overheat once when I playing Portal 2 and block the air vent  , the CPU actually get up to 99C (Before getting cooler) and the GPU is fine, while the problem that I constantly had are the subwoofer and the one very recent serious problem was the Hard Drive Failure.

So I think it is depend on each laptop they receive, some report that they having so many issue like the OP for e.g, while some report that they didnt have so many issue (Heat in particular), like me. Yeah I think it is a trade off for the portability and performance, but this is serious, since it interfere with your everyday usage. So the Dell need to get this fix by the M14xR2 is launch if not on the R1.

Thanks for replying CGSDR,I agree some are better than others I just am seeing alot more issues lately on other forums, dell for one.So I was told Dells engineer wanted to know what people are experiencing, especially heat related. And they already changed the bios 3 times in a few months, and I was on a6 still heat problems,I'm hoping they read this like I was told and fix something!SOON!

I just got a PM from bill @ Dell,he is actively looking into the heat issues, and is speaking with engineering. For anyone still not getting it.Anandtech quote"I can't believe Dell would make such a high performing laptop with such a poorly designed cooling system.Anandtech is about the most trusted tech guru in the business.I have 2 m14s with heat related game issues and my brother.WOW he's had more than I want to think about.
