well having had both I am not sure I made a good move getting the 14 and selling my 11.. This laptop is bigger than I expected and that DVD drive is clunky at best.. My M11x seemed to be a much more quicker laptop in general I have not done any gaming yet so that will be my final determining factor as well as the battery life not impressing me at the moment.. Sorry if this sounds like a rant its not just a comparo of the two and what they appear.. My 11 felt overall like a better built unit and if the gaming experience does not do it for me this 14 is going back and I am ordering another M11x R3 that was one great little laptop..

i decided to jump straight in and buy m14x. thought it was a beauty. still think its great now.
but... after seeing what the m17x and m18x can do - with regards to playing games mainly- i wish a tiny bit i had gone with them.
dont get me wrong the m14x is a beast, but after seeing some clips of the the m17x and m18x gaming wish i had waited before jumping straight in.

I agree the m14x is big. It does pack a punch but I feel like the m11x is more of an overall better package and price especially is you intend on moving around a lot

I only have M11x R2 and M14x but I find the M14x is a much quicker machine and gives much higher quality for gaming. :)

I personally find the processor/gpu rather weak on the m11x and the screen is awful.
However its a fiesty little thing, if portability and battery life is more important then it cant be beat.

I wanted the power of a desktop in a small package, the m14x is certainly a more capable machine and looking forward to my SSD arriving.

Both are great at what they are designed for :)

I almost considered an m11x a few months ago as a couple of chums had one, It was the screen that really put me off. Viewing angles were horrific, since I planned to watch quite a bit of video on it................just found it too much of a compromise.

Yea.. I am getting my choice though.. the 14 is going back 99+ degrees Celsius when gaming for a few minutes and that just don't cut it.. Tech said that it needs to be returned and replaced .. grrrrr.. sending back for a refund and we'll see what I do next.. the screen on the 11 sux and that is the only reason I am even hesitating on getting another one.. but I will look around and see whats available..

I switched to the m14x because I found the screen a little lacking. It was to small for being on for long periods. I kind of miss the little guy as it has an air about it, pretty powerful for such a little unit about the size of a netbook but oh so much more. The m14x is much better at gaming and being on for long periods as the screen is bigger and the sound much louder and clearer.

I would pay $3000 for an m11 if Dell were to fit a 12 or 13" rgb led 1920x1200 panel on an 11x chassis.

There is no laptop that meets my needs so I'm going to just cry.

M11x : crap screen. Wasted real estate (big borders on 11" screen when they can fit a 12 or higher on it. Crap cpu

M14x : almost as crap screen, lots of issues, pretty thick for a 14.

MacBook pro: might just bite the bullet on price and get the 13" model.

After having several 17x r2s and r3s I'm going to cry that I sold my r2. I really need something smaller that has the right combination it was just too big for everyday portability.

    lol would be a m13x then :)
Can certainly say the m14x 900p whilst not on par with a macbook screen, is actually pretty good.
Macbook pro's cant game for toffee................not the 13" ones anyhow, compared to an m14x in terms of specs is definately not in the same ballpark.

Was quite sad to see my 2010 macbook 13" go, but in terms of gaming abilty its in a diffferent league to the macbook.

Kind of agree, but if you go for the Mac gaming is out of the question. While I love the m14x, Id have to say I wouldnt mind just a 1600x900 13 inch macbook with a 550M, thatd be nice..

My biggest issue with mac is mouse acceleration. It ruins all games for me. ALl I play while on a laptop is occasional warcraft 3 tft which is archaic. a netbook can probably play it. Problem is everything is a compromise like I mentioned. Just cant find a decent sized beautifully styled small laptop with a nice display.

I have 17" macbook pro and 13" macbook air. Love them both but don't game on them. That being said I've been using M14x for couple days now and pretty impressed with it. Would definitely get it over an m11x. I'm hunting for my perfect gaming solution and will probably end up with desktop
