I'm surprised nobody posts about this issue, but when I use my headphone (tried both headphone jacks) and listen to pop music, the vocal is really really low, while the background is amplified. This is not normal, as with my other laptops, the vocal dominates. I tried a lot of settings in the Realtek Audio application, but nothing fixes this. Any idea is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think it's because you have the equalizer enabled in the Realtek audio application or some other 3rd party application.
Try disabling the equalizer and maybe the "MaxxAudio" feature.

Never mind, problem solved. I used special noise cancelling headphone bundled with the Vaio Z. These have extra connection threads on the connector, which makes the M14x confuse it with a 5.1 surround sound external speaker being connected to the machine.
I feel stupid now lol. Carry on guys.
