Hey does anyone know of a car adapter that works for the M14X? I know I can buy an inverter like the Belkin AC Anywhere but I was actually hoping for something simple that works for the M14X and plugs straight into the cigarette lighter.

Not sure anything like that exists, and if it did it wouldn't be cheap. I'd just get an inverter. Make sure it's at least 150W (the rating for the M14x's power brick)

May I just ask, what does an inverter do? Does it plug into your car or is it like a small battery?

A inverter converts your car's DC power to Ac you can plug things in like you do in your home. I have a question for you guys I got a 200 watt inverter and the only way i can get it working is if i turn off battery charging in the bios. If I have battery charging on the laptop does not get power. Does anyone know if the dc plug wattage will play a role in what you can connect to the inverter or does the inverter just amplify the power from your car dc outlet?

you cannot amplify the power. You can only draw more power [edit: in a twisted sense, the wording you chose works, too]. If the car's electrical system is no capable of feeding your laptop at load + the battery charging, then the inverter will likely put an OCP limiter to prevent your card's wires from burning up.
