    One supports XMP (blue) and the other one does not (Silver)

    XMP memory is mostly used for overclocking or if you are going to be changing the clocks, timings, etc of the memory.

    The other one is just PnP (self explanatory) , everything is set for you so you don't have to do anything.

    I use 1866Mhz PnP memory and it's easy as pie to install and it runs at the advertised speeds with no bios manipulations. Like it and it runs perfect)
