    Hey guys,

I actually have this posted in the Networking and wireless section of the site as well but I thought id post here too just in case its an M14x specific issue.
I know this is out there somewhere but i havent been able to find it while searching the forums. I just got my M14x Thursday with the Killer Wireless N Card.

First of all I do love this card so far. Streaming, Online gaming, and Web browsing is super fast and very smooth. HOWEVER When doing a speed test on my machine I am getting considerably lower Download speeds when compared to my iPhone.

The package I have with my ISP is UP TO 25mb down. When using the speedtest.net app on my iPhone4s I am getting 15-20mb every time but when I do the same speedtest on my laptop I am getting on average 6-8mb with the exception on 16mb on one occassion. Am I missing something configuration wise?

Dont get me wrong everything is fast and smooth but when downloading something I feel like its not as fast as it should be ya know? I considered that maybe its a router issue (I plan on buying a new one anyway) but if that were it then why is my iPhone getting super fast speeds everytime?

    PLEASE advise. Thanks in advance.

New here myself, and no experience with this card in particular. However I have a vast experience in getting the juice outta wlan cards.

First off I think you should clarrify a bit what actual speed u have if its 6-7MB/sec (60-70Mbit/sec) or 0.6MB/sec. (6Mbit/sec). Usually ISP rate it in Mbps.

If this is a cheap wireless card it will result in poor speeds. But you can look trough your properties of the driver. Just check that options like transmit power is set to max. Might also be an idea to upgrade drivers if available.

Your result is worrying low to be honest (havent seen newer cards with that low speed), just to check ur PC connect a cable to it and see if speed improves.

At the end of the day I'd prolly just would have gotten a new card off ebay. Half a year back maybe I bought a Intel Centrino 6230 802.11abgn, and I'm having transfer speed of 150-200 Mbps locally. (and ofcourse maxing 70Mbps internet line)

It is fairly easy to install the WLAN into the m14x, two screws bellow. Two more where the battery is. Pull the cable of the battery and the WLAN card is just bellow that. Disconnect white / black cord and eject the card. Insert new card and connect the antenna cables again (same spots).

Have you tried updating to the drivers off the killer wireless website and not dells? I heard the dell drivers were old and the newer drivers offered by killer offer better performance. ;)

Thats interesting. Im gonna take a look at that when I get home. I went to Dells site yesterday when I got off and the Bigfoot driver they have was released 30March12 and ended .308 But when viewing my Driver in the device manager it ended in .318

Yesterday evenings results were 8Mbps on the Alienware vs 15Mbps on my iPhone. Ive been wanting to a get wireless N router for a while so after I get that installed Ill see if that makes any difference.

Hook it up with a cable, see what you get then.
Download drivers from the Killer site, not from Dell.

Im convinced there may be an issue with the card. Yesterday I got a Linksys EA3500 wireless router. Works great. EXCEPT for on my M14x for some reason. Check this out, I got my parents an N300 Wireless USB Adapter not too long ago and its on the other side of the house and it was getting a speed of 18Mbps while my M14x only was getting about 6-8Mbps still and I even put it on 5ghz.

My last effort will be to try the driver from Bigfoots website. If that doesnt do the trick I may have to call Dell.
