Do not know if you guys have this problem,

starting from last week, my wireless connection will disconnect every 5~10 minutes and then connect again in seconds. Very frustrating because same router and nothing changed in the past.

The wireless driver is already the newest from Dell, the one downloaded from bigfoot network did not work. My router's firmware is also up-to-date.

Shoud I claim to Dell, are they going to send me a new wireless card or I have to mail my laptop in. Is it easy to replace wireless card by myself?

You might be downloading something (torrents, DL manager)?
Or it might be your Mcafee. I think I've read somewhere that there is a conflict between those Killer and Mcafee. .

Same thing happens to me sometimes - very annoying. Clean Windows install with no McAfee. Only when i've been playing online for an extended period of time

There may be a couple of things conflicting with your wireless card. I'd start by trying this easy steps for Alienware: Wireless TS.

If none of that works, it may be a power related conflict, you can work it out this way:

    1. Open the Network and Sharing Center
    2. Click on Change adapter settings (left pane)
    3. Right click the adapter, select properties
    4. Click configure, choose power management tab
    5. Uncheck: Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

Let us know how it goes.

I have the 1102 (I don't know what is different from 1202) and the m14x r1. No issues, but I have the software for the wireless card disabled, the driver is still installed I just stopped the software that comes with the card from starting at boot.
If you have that software I would try closing it and see if you still get disconnects. Other than that if you have any other wireless devices you can use to test the router I think that would be a good idea. Network issues could be the laptop OR the router even with the newest firmware.

Change your torrent downloader to Vuze. Previously, uTorrent is giving me disconnect problems, but after changing it to Vuze, no more problems.

Thanks, everyone, I used windows to manage my wireless as well (not the software from killer, but the driver is from dell).

The power management has been set to max since the first day I got alienware, and never checked let the laptop shutdown the wireless.

I even bought a new linksys E3200 router from amazon this week, in case if the problem comes from my belkin N600. But still problem exists.

Since this only happens after I played d3 for quite a while, I suspect it is the extent heat kill some parts of the wireless card, and may be cause the card has some hardware failure.

Luis, thanks for the help, I noticed you are from dell. I've called the technical support phone, he insists test my laptop remotely, and I let him do that with some suspicous software actually made me uncomfortable, but the problem still. He left me an email address and never replied it.

Is there any way you can handle my case? Thanks!

It does sound like a driver/software issue but to answer one of your original questions, it's VERY easy to swap out your WiFi card.

    Steps:
    1. Shut down laptop (not sleep or hibernate)
    2. Flip laptop upside down
    3. Unscrew 2 phillips screws
    4. Slide cover back (towards the side where you removed screws)
    5. Unplug battery
    6. Remove 2 phillips screws securing battery and use tab to pull it up and out.
    7. You will see the WiFi card. Pop off the two wires attached to it (white and black leads).
    8. Unscrew the single phillips screw and remove the card.

That's it! This whole process can be as quick as swapping RAM out.

    Thanks, G.I.Joe,

I've changed HDD and ram before, it seems even easier from your description!

As i've posted here, i've found an issue when running an alien autopsy scan on the Killer wireless card where it seems to get stuck on "Network Link Test". I also get the disconnect/reconnect issue so maybe there is some link here?
